ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Several explosions were heard late Thursday in Erbil province’s Soran administration, with residents reporting flames on nearby mountain slopes as the Kurdistan Region continues to face sustained drone and missile attacks related to the Iran war.
The blasts were heard at around 10:35 pm, according to local residents, who said fire was seen on the slopes of Mount Bani Harir following the explosions.
An informed source at the border told Rudaw that flames were visible on the mountain alongside the powerful blasts, adding that the extent of the damage remains unknown.
Some residents captured footage of the moment of the attack, saying the strikes appeared to have been carried out by missiles. Others said they heard six explosions within a span of five minutes.
A source from the Soran administration said the blasts were strong enough to be heard across the area.
