ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - A United Nations delegation visited the Kurdish besieged town of Kobane in northern Syria on Monday to assess the humanitarian situation in the city and evaluate the conditions of displaced people, according to a local official.
The delegation was from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and conducted a field visit to gather information about the living conditions and urgent needs of residents and internally displaced people settled in Kobane.
Farhad Haji Issa, a Kurdish official in Kobane, said the visit focused on assessing key humanitarian sectors, including the economy, healthcare, water, energy, and other essential services.
Representatives from relevant local institutions, including health, water, energy, and displacement authorities, attended meetings with the UN delegation, where they discussed the challenges facing the city and its residents.
