ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Six Kurdistan Region Peshmerga fighters were killed, and more than 20 others were wounded in missile strikes targeting a base in Erbil province early Tuesday, as pro-Iran armed groups continue to target the Region amid ongoing regional war.
An informed source told Rudaw, speaking on condition of anonymity, that Division 7 of the Peshmerga forces in Erbil’s Soran administration was hit, killing six fighters and injuring over 20 others. A number of the wounded were transferred to hospitals in the area and in Erbil.
The Kurdistan Region has faced a wave of drone and missile attacks since the conflict that began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched a joint military campaign against Iran. Iraqi armed groups aligned with Iran have claimed responsibility for some of the attacks.
In a statement, the Peshmerga Command Area One said the headquarters of Division 7 was struck twice, first at 1:50 am with five missiles, causing no casualties, and again at 2:50 am with one missile, without specifying casualties.
