In a statement, the Israeli army said it "has begun a broad-scale wave of strikes against Iranian terror regime infrastructure in Tehran."
The announcement came as Iranian state media confirmed that several loud explosions were heard in both eastern and western parts of Tehran around dawn, coinciding with the morning call to prayer.
