ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Supporters of Iraq’s powerful Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr plan to stage protests across several Iraqi provinces on Saturday to condemn the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran.
The demonstrations are expected to begin at 4:30 pm local time and are set to continue until sunset, according to a statement issued by Sadr.
Sadr had earlier called for nationwide, peaceful protests in a message released last week, urging Iraqis to take to the streets in response to the escalating regional tensions.
According to the statement, the rallies aim to denounce the strikes on Iran and to push for de-escalation and stability across the Middle East.
Organizers stressed that the protests must remain peaceful and follow a set of guidelines, including adherence to unified slogans and full coordination with security forces and organizing committees.
