ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Syria’s defense ministry said Monday that one of its military transport buses was targeted in the northeastern province of Hasaka, killing two soldiers and injuring several others.
The state-owned Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) cited the defense ministry’s communications department as saying the attack took place west of the al-Aliyah silos near Hasaka city. It blamed unidentified gunmen, reporting two deaths and several injuries among soldiers.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) put the death toll at three.
“According to preliminary information received from the region, the targeting resulted in the death of 3 members and the injury of others with varying degrees of severity, while the identity of the executing party or the motives behind the operation have not yet become clear,” the UK-based war monitor said on Monday.
